The Condo
We’ve made #107 available to friends who can visit in our absence to experience Sarasto. Come visit and make yourself at home. Use anything you find like shampoo, coffee K-cups, dishwasher pods, toilet paper, paper towels, washing machine detergent, anything in the refrigerator and so on. Just replace anything that you think is running out.
There is a Publix market two minutes away on 10th street.. Stock up there and it’s one-stop shopping as Publix also sells liquor and beer. We buy fresh water gallons, even though the tap water is OK. At the moment the filtered water dispenser in the refrigerator is not working.
Grab the keys to the Honda. On the key ring is a key to the gate in front of the condo, a key fob that operates all the marina dock gates and a key for Alto. There are also keys to our upstairs unit, our storage locker where we keep boat stuff and the exterior storage closet on the patio.
Coffee
There are boxes of 100 Keurig K-Cups in the cabinets, look around. If you run low, they are cheap on Amazon, as low as $30 for 100 with two-day delivery. Using the Keurig machine is self-explanatory. 1. Lift the lid and insert a pod. 2. Select the strength, temperature and size (a cup is 8 oz). TIP: just hit the #1 button then the K button and you’ll get my preset brew for the strongest and hottest 8 oz. cup of coffee.
The Samsung Induction Range
This is tricky and I have not mastered it (we eat out mostly or have left overs). Here’s a tutorial on it. It’s locked automatically, so you have to figure out how to unlock the stovetop. Like I said, tricky.
The Samsung Refrigerator
On the edge of the freezer and refrigerator doors is a touch sensor (look for the faint LED). Touch it and the door pops open. Otherwise, you’ll have to tug the door pretty hard to open it. It took me a while to notice that!
The Samsung Dishwasher
It’s self-explanatory. Detergent pods are under the sink. Don’t be surprised when the door opens by itself at the end of a cycle. It is supposed to do that, as it facilitates drying.
The Samsung Frame TV
Hit the remote’s on button and then push it again to go into “Art Mode” which may ask you if you want to rotate through its gallery. Pushing the round center button enters this. On the Home Screen you should see an icon for art mode that lets you select it and adjust things. The rest of the remote should be familiar. We have most services like youtube TV, ESPN, and Hulu; Netflix; Britbox, Disney+, Max, Peacock, Paramount, etc. Watch anything you like. If you buy a movie you can reimburse us. The LG Washer/Dryer Tower
Detergent is on top of the unit, or in the cabinet under the bathroom sink. Use only half a cup and even less for a small load. It’s self-explanatory and easy to use. Drying takes a while since it is a ventless, heat pump model. You’ll likely fly out in the evening of your last day, so do your wash before you go if you like and take home clean clothes. You can strip the main bedroom’s bed and throw the stuff in the washer and do a load if you don’t mind. There are clean sheets and pillow cases in the linen closet so it would be kind to replace them.
The Showers
Bath towels are provided along with all linens. The ceramic bath mat in front of the showers is made of diatomaceous earth and dries almost instantly from wet feet. Please squeegee the hand rails’ surfaces. The water is hard and will spot and eventually corrode any metal it sits on. You can squeegee the glass too, if you like, to help things dry out.
The Spare Bedroom’s Inflatable Bed
Unpack, unroll, plug it in and turn it on to self-inflate in a few minutes. Leave it plugged in so the secondary pump can refill and air loss during the night. Sheets are in the linen closet. Pillows are around in the closet. They may be brand new, so unpack and use them. Here’s a video about the original Serta raised bed, our’s is a newer, taller model with the secondary pump that will quietly (so they say) refill any lost air at night, so you don’t wake up lying on the floor.
