Rooftop Bars

This writer developed a new hobby – visiting rooftop bars in Sarasota. Friends introduced him to the idea where you wander the city taking elevators up to new adventures. Here are the six best as curated by Rishapbh Maurya for the Unation.com food and drink website.

Perspective Rooftop Pool Bar, 1255 N Palm Ave, is shown above. It’s on the fifth floor of the Art Ovation Hotel. Offering live music and DJ mixes it is open every week day until 10pm and weekends to 12am. The pool gets interesting as we’re told it allows nude swimming later in the evenings… Don’t stare!

Sage Rooftop, 1216 1st St, is located above the Sage SRQ

Restaurant in the old Sarasota Times Building. Closed on Mondays, the bar has a big fire pit, note the Sage menu is expensive.

Daiquiri Deck is family friendly place located on St. Armands Circle. It has locations in Venice and two places on Siesta Key. It’s only “so so” IMHO.

Shore Restaurant, 465 John Ringling Blvd #200, near Armand’s Circle is modern-elegant. Not so much a roof top bar, it is more of a balcony, but it’s still nice.

The Roof Bar and Eats at the Westin Hotel, 100 Marina View Dr, is the classic Sarasota roof top bar. Its a 20-story high favorite perch for watching sunsets.

The Bridge Restaurant, 202 No Tamiami Trail, is not

technically an open-air rooftop bar. But, on the 8th floor at the Embassy Suites Hotel it has a great view. You can have breakfast here as well as lunch or dinner.

Aloft Hotel, 1401 Ringling Blvd, has a rooftop pool and
bar, but it looks a little bleak in this picture that Jake P. took over his feet on 06/07/21.
